3-in-1 Stand Up Comedy Show

Project/Event Description
Stand-up comedy TV series "Komedija s nogu 3u1" recorded half-hour shows including acts by the comedians from all the countries of former Yugoslavia. Every show had a multiethnic line-up of three comedians, each coming from a different country, hence the "3-in-1" title contribute to the ongoing inter-ethnic reconciliation process in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Project/Event Description
The project incorporated development of two 30-minutes TV documentary programs that will be broadcasted on the national BHTV. The objective of this project activity was to make voices of youth, leading experts, academic community and alumni heard in the media and public domain and to generate democratic pressure on the political decision-makers to implement reforms towards EU and NATO integrations. Aside media and online outreach, the project encompasses organization of public debates in the 13 cities in BiH.

The project aimed to foster interethnic understanding and cooperation, educational achievement, workforce training and civic engagement of young people through the use of information and communications technology with focus on new media. The central theme of The First Annual Mostar Student Conference was “American National Identity”. This conference explored the dimensions of “Americanness”, seeking to understand what could define American national identity from a Bosnian and Herzegovinian perspective as well as from global aspects of U. S. literature, culture, institutions, identity, history and civilization. The Public Affairs Section at the U.S. Embassy Sarajevo organized the first Youth Leadership Program (YLP) alumni reunion in Mostar. Over 50 alumni, who participated in this ECA-funded program between 2003 and 2007, traveled to Mostar from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They actively participated in workshops to enhance their leadership and community development skills and were clearly excited to share ideas with other alumni about how they could make a difference in their communities and their country.

Alumni of six different U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs together with Cultural Affairs Officer Kim Murphy, Cultural Affairs Assistant Goranka Hennegar and Alumni Coordinator Jason Haserodt gathered at the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo to brain storm new ways to engage alumni in BiH. After a lively discussion of ideas and possibilities the alumni present agreed to meet in the near future to form an alumni board of representatives of all U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs for the purpose of establishing a formal plan and timeline for creating an all inclusive network of alumni in BiH.
